Every piece of furniture has a story, and our newly restored parent lounge set carries one that's particularly close to my heart. As a newborn photographer, I've always believed that creating a comfortable, welcoming space for parents is just as important as having the perfect setup for their little ones. Today, I'm excited to share how an unexpected gift transformed our studio's parent lounge into something even more special.


A Meaningful Connection in Our Southeast Michigan Studio


After our dear family friend Jack passed away, my parents asked if I would like to keep his vintage bamboo/rattan furniture set. While some might have seen worn-out pieces in need of replacement, I saw potential and, more importantly, felt a connection that couldn't be measured in dollars and cents. These pieces, though in need of some care, held decades of memories and carried a warmth that you simply can't find in new furniture.

The Restoration Journey


The restoration process was a labor of love. Each piece required careful cleaning, oiling of the natural bamboo, and complete reupholstering. I chose a soft, textured white fabric that perfectly complements our studio's neutral, calming aesthetic. The result? A stunning seating area that looks like it was always meant to be here.

In our 720-square-foot studio in downtown Highland, every detail matters. This restored set now serves as the centerpiece of our parent lounge, where families can relax and watch their newborn's session unfold on our mounted TV.
