Hi, I'm Natasha

Hi, I’m Natasha! I’m a family and newborn photographer based in Michigan. My sessions are relaxed, lightly guided, and centered around real connection, nothing stiff or overly posed, just your family being together. I'm so excited you snagged a family summer deal and cannot wait to capture this moment for your family!

Clothing

Stick with soft, neutral tones and coordinating outfits rather than matching exactly. Flowy fabrics, simple textures, and earthy or timeless colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your family.

Shoes

These sessions take place outdoors, so please remember to wear comfortable shoes that are easy to walk in. I move around the field I shoot at to follow the light, which means you will be walking so comfort will make everything feel easier and more relaxed.

Timing & Little Ones

Because sessions are scheduled around sunset, summer evenings can run later than usual. Please plan naps and dinner times accordingly so little ones aren’t overtired, that makes a big difference in how the session goes.

Bug Spray

Some form of bug spray is a must for everyone attending the session, especially in the warmer months. It helps keep everyone comfortable so we can focus on enjoying your time together. Ticks and mosquitoes will happen

What you wear matters

What you wear plays a big role in how your final images feel, so I always recommend sticking with neutral and coordinated tones that help keep the focus on your family’s connection rather than distracting colors or busy patterns. To make this easier, I found a few palette ideas (pictured) you can use for inspiration while planning outfits: soft neutrals like beige, white, cream, and soft greens for a light and airy feel; warm blush tones like tan, white, light pink, and dusty rose for something soft and romantic; and a cool, classic mix of black, dark blue, light blue, white, and beige for a bit more contrast while still feeling timeless.

REMEMBER: You don’t have to match perfectly, just aim to stay within the same color family so everything feels cohesive and natural!

Where to Buy:

When it comes to shopping for outfits, I love using places like Amazon, Old Navy, American Eagle, Target, Gap, and Marshalls or TJ Maxx for textured, timeless pieces that photograph beautifully.

Your Little Ones

When it comes to little ones, there is absolutely no pressure for them to “perform” or sit perfectly, I truly love letting kids be themselves, have fun, and play throughout the session.

The best images always come from real moments, not forced ones.

To help things run smoothly, please make sure your child is fed and ready to go before we start, and feel free to bring along a favorite toy or comfort item for younger children so I can use it to help get their attention or keep them engaged when needed.

Having water on hand is also helpful, especially on summer nights.

If the weather is a bit cooler, coats are totally fine to bring, we can easily remove them during photos and put them right back on in between shots so everyone stays comfortable.

My goal is always to keep things relaxed and flexible so your child can feel at ease and we can capture them naturally.

TIP:

Candy can be a great little motivator for kids! If you’re okay with it, I may use Smarties during the session to help encourage smiles and bring out their personality. They’re dye-free, don’t stain clothing, and usually help shy little ones relax and have a little fun with me.

Bug Repellent

Because we’ll be shooting outdoors at Kensington Metropark, I always recommend applying bug spray or insect repellent before your session for everyone attending. This time of year, it’s just a natural part of being in outdoor spaces, and using repellent helps keep everyone comfortable so we can stay focused on your session without distractions. I also suggest doing a quick check when you get home afterward, just as an extra layer of peace of mind.

This isn’t something to stress about, just a simple step that helps make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

FAQ

What happens if the weather isnt good?

I always keep an eye on the weather leading up to your session. If we have heavy rain, strong winds, or unsafe conditions, I’ll reach out to reschedule so we still get the best possible experience and lighting.

What if my child doesn’t cooperate?

That’s completely okay, this is very normal. I work with kids every day and keep sessions relaxed and playful so we can follow their lead. No pressure, no stress. If it's okay with you, I hand out smarties candy as a motivator for smiles and fun! If not, then no worries, I always have a few tricks up my sleeve!

How long is the session? What time should we arrive?

Your Summer Family session is 30 minutes long, which is the perfect amount of time for a relaxed, guided experience. Please plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early so we can start on time and make the most of our light.

**PLEASE NOTE** time may change based on when golden hour starts during your session. They are tentatively scheduled for 7pm but based on the time of year your session is scheduled that could be later. I will reach out to let you know prior to our session together.

Can we bring snacks or drinks?

Yes! Water is always recommended, and small, non-messy snacks for kids are totally fine if it is needed.
