I'm so excited to be working with you and can't wait to capture some beautiful memories of your family!
Whether this is your first professional family session or you've done this a dozen times, I want you to feel comfortable and know exactly what to expect.
My sessions are a mix of traditional, posed portraits and more relaxed, natural moments. I'll guide you through everything, so there's no need to worry about knowing how to pose or getting everyone to smile perfectly!
I've put together this little guide to help you prepare for our time together. You'll find details about where we'll meet, what to expect during your session, and how your gallery will work afterward.
I can't wait to see you!
Where We'll Meet
Our family session will take place at Orion Oaks County Park in Lake Orion, Michigan!
I'll send you a direct location pin on the day of your session so you know exactly where to park and meet me. The park is pretty large, so following the pin will be much easier than relying on the park's main address! However, the address to the park is:
2635 S Baldwin Rd, Orion, MI
Please plan to arrive about 5–10 minutes early so everyone has a chance to get settled before we begin.
We'll be photographing outdoors, so comfortable shoes are always a good idea, especially since we may do a little walking to find the perfect spots!
What to Expect During Your Session
My family sessions are a mix of traditional, posed portraits and those sweet, natural moments in between!
We'll start with everyone together, making sure we capture those classic family portraits (the ones Grandma wants on her mantel!). From there, we'll work through different combinations, including individual photos of the kids, siblings together, and parents.
Once we've captured those must-have portraits, we'll move into a more relaxed approach. Think walking together, snuggling up, laughing, and just enjoying a little time as a family!
Don't worry about knowing how to pose or getting the kids to cooperate perfectly. I'll guide you through everything, and sometimes those little unplanned moments end up being some of my favorites!
Most importantly, just come ready to have some fun together!
What Happens After?
Once we've wrapped up your session, I'll get started on sorting through your images and preparing your proofing gallery, which will be ready in two weeks!
You'll receive an online gallery where you can view your photos and choose your 30 favorite images included with your session. If you fall in love with more than 30 (which happens often), you'll have the option to purchase additional images for $15 each.
Once you've made your selections, I'll get started on the final edits! Your finished images will be delivered through an online gallery where you can easily download, save, and share your favorites with family and friends. All final images will be delivered within 3-5 days after you've chosen.
I can't wait for you to see your photos!
A Few Tips for Families with Little Ones
Let's be real, kids are kids! They aren't always going to want to sit still, smile at the camera, or cooperate the entire time, and that's completely okay!
Here are a few little things that can help make our time together go a little smoother.
Bring a little treat!
A small, mess-free treat can work wonders when we need a little extra encouragement! Smarties are one of my favorites because they're quick to eat and won't leave sticky fingers or colorful stains on clothing. I'd recommend avoiding chocolate or anything that might make a mess.
Bring something familiar!
If your little one has a favorite stuffed animal, toy, or blanket, feel free to bring it along! Sometimes having something familiar nearby makes all the difference. Just make sure it's something you wouldn't mind making an appearance in a few photos!
Don't stress about perfect behavior.
Seriously! If your little one needs a break, wants to be held, or isn't interested in smiling right away, that's okay. We'll work with them, not against them. Some of my favorite images happen when kids are simply being themselves.
Let me do the silly stuff!
There's no need to stand behind me telling your little one to smile or look at the camera. I'll do my best to get their attention, make them laugh, and capture those genuine expressions. Your job is just to enjoy being with your family!
Above all, try not to put too much pressure on the kids (or yourselves!). The more relaxed everyone feels, the more natural and enjoyable our session will be.
